HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

Any modern computer that is capable of running the supported Operating Systems will be fine for BSA.

All systems will require a sound system for the MP3 player and a minimum video resolution of 1024x768.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

BSA is written to use Microsoft's .Net Framework v2.0. Most newer installations of Windows will already have this installed. If it is not, the installation program for version .9.1.115 will install it for you. The download file for version 2.01 does not include .Net v2.0. If it is needed on our computer, you can download and install it from the download page or from Microsoft.

NOTE: Administrative rights to the computer is required to install the .Net Framework.

Operating System

The latest version of BSA has been thoroughly tested on Windows 7, 8 and 10.  The only additional software you may have to install is the .Net Framework v2.0 and Windows Media Player 12 if they are not already installed. See the change log below for notes on Windows Media Player.

Version .9.1.115 of BSA has been thoroughly tested on 32bit Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 64bit Windows 7 and 8.  It has not been tested on Windows 10.  The only additional software you should have to install is the .Net Framework v2.0 if it's not already installed.

BSA is not supported on Win 2000 and it will not run on Windows 9x or ME.

INSTALLATION

If you are replacing an existing version of BSA on your computer, uninstall the previous version first before installing a new version. It can be uninstalled from Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel.

If you obtained BSA on CD, insert the CD and the installation routine should automatically begin. If not, run the setup.exe program on the CD. The installation wizard will lead you through the process. You must agree to the License Agreement before the installation will complete.

If you downloaded a Zip file from the Internet, unzip the contents to your hard drive and then execute the setup.exe file. The installation wizard will lead you through the process. You must agree to the License Agreement for the installation to complete.

The longest operation during the install process will be the installation of the .Net 2.0 Framework if it is necessary. This will take several minutes to install itself. If you are installing on an older computer, you may receive a message indicating that the installation is taking longer than expected.

UNINSTALL

You can uninstall BSA using Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel. This will remove all BSA related files except for the Verse Notes data file. By default, this file can be found as:

 MyDocumtents\BibleStudyAssistant\VerseNotes\versenotes.mdb

 and can be removed manually.

Uninstalling BSA will not remove the .Net 2.0 Framework.

CHANGE LOG

04/05/2014 - released version 2.01

Changes:

BSA now interfaces with Windows Media Player version 12 to play the MP3 files. Windows Media Player 12 must be installed on your computer to play MP3 files in version 2.01 of BSA. Windows Media Player 12 is installed by default on most versions of Windows 7, 8 and 10. If it is not on your computer, you will need to install it. If you do not want to have Windows Media Player 12 installed on your computer, use version .9.1.115 of BSA instead. However, this version has not been tested on Windows 10. The MP3 player in versions of BSA prior to version 2.01 is outdated and may not continue to work as Microsoft updates Windows.

Improvements:

Version 2.01 allows you to bookmark your location in the MP3 file so you can return to it later.

9/5/12 - released version 0.9.1.115

Changes:

It contains a few minor enhancements to the new word processor module and the main player form is now resizeable.

9/11/11 - released version 0.9.1.113

Changes:

Added a new and improved Word Processor Module.  It does not have the ability to handle multiple open files as previously so if you used this feature, then stick with V111.  However, V111 does not contain the bug fixes below.

Improvements:

Fixed a bug that if you opened a Bible window, closed it and then opened it again, it didn't go to the correct verse when you selected one or typed one in.  Fixed and issue that cropped up in version 107 when you pasted a single or multiple verses from a Bible window, it included the cell borders that extended off the page.  They could not be removed or resized.  It once again pastes text only.  A future version will contain a Paste Special option to paste other than plain text.

9/7/11 - released version 0.9.1.111

Changes:

This version has been tested to work with 32bit XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 64bit Windows 7.

Improvements:

The position in the .mp3 file playing can now be controlled using a slider along with the F7 and F8 keys.
When you type in a verse on the Bible window, it now uses a drop down instead of just a text box.  It will save the most recently entered verses in the drop down.  When the bible window is closed, the top 15 verses in the drop down will be saved.
You can now copy partial text from a verse in the grid on the Bible window.

6/9/2011 - released version 0.9.1.107

Changes:

Fixed display problems in Windows 7

Improvements:

The word processor in BSA now supports .docx files.  You can also export documents to .pdf files.

The data grid on the bible form now expands properly when you change the size of the form.

1/21/2007 - released version 0.9.1.104
